StrongKey (formerly StrongAuth, Inc.) is a privately held company based in Silicon Valley, California and Durham, North Carolina. As the leader in enterprise key management infrastructure, we are bringing new levels of capability and data security at a price point significantly lower than other solutions on the market.

Providing products and services for strong authentication, data confidentiality, data integrity, and FIPS-certified hardware-based key management, StrongKey is focused on securing data for PCI DSS, GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, DFARS 252.204-7012, NIST SP 800-171, and other sectors mandating protection of sensitive data. StrongKey’s solutions are installed at customer sites around the world and are key components of mission-critical business operations.

StrongKey has defined a unique web application architecture to enable secure cloud computing, which not only ensures strong security of sensitive data in the public cloud, but also does so at lower costs than companies currently spend on enterprise security.

There is nothing more important to creating a good company culture and being able to go above and beyond in supporting our clients. To that end, our company values are integral to our way of life and help guide us daily in everything from business decisions to employee relations. We are proud to share these with you, as they form the foundation for StrongKey.

We Are Authentic
We are a self-aware company, and we don’t shy away from our position. Sometimes, this means we have a contrarian viewpoint. Sometimes, the entire industry may be going one way, while we insist on the other. We don’t do this to needlessly argue; we do this because we passionately believe in the security solutions we offer. By nature, we are a curious group of people, constantly seeking to learn. We scan our environments, inherently skeptical, cautious, or even nervous about where industry and government are going. We’re not tin-foily, but we are pioneers, because we don’t quite see things the same way others do. And we’re okay with that.
We Are Ethical
We do business the Right Way. We create and sell technology that is truly solving problems, not looking to simply make money. We operate with honesty and openness with our employees, customers, investors, and all other stakeholders. We don’t look to shortcuts or improper behavior to get business deals done, even in environments where it may be more acceptable. We extend trust and seek to cultivate it in others as they work with us. We are uncompromising in operating this way – even if it costs us profit, customers, or market position.
We Deliver Value
We go beyond simply being mindful of our customers. We are committed to always doing the right thing for them. Sometimes this means proposing a technological solution that is different than what they asked for – but explaining why it’s the right thing for them. We go beyond simply creating a competitive product. Instead, we create industry-leading products and price and sell them to customers in a way that creates value for both sides. We are delighted when our customers are, and we expect that they notice our customer service. We are wholly responsive to customer concerns, and every person in the organization owns this – not just engineering support. Rather than waiting on hearing from customers, we seek feedback out from them.
We Have an Unwavering Commitment to Solving the Hard Problem
Since our company’s inception, we have had a single-minded focus on solving the toughest problems facing the security industry. We are experts in our field and are not easily swayed by trends. We get excited when presented with a puzzle, but we also stay within our domain of core competency and knowledge.
We Create Tech for the Betterment of Everyone
We have a utopian view of what technology could be. We think that everyone deserves a secure web, and we think we have the technology to instill trust in the Internet. People who are connected – and secure – have a level economic playing field, and we have the technology to enable that. We are passionate believers in open source technology, and we know we wouldn’t be where we are now without that community. We believe in sharing and giving back – both in technology, as well as people. We hire people who have the potential to be teachers and mentors, who are collaborative, and who join in this vision.
We Appreciate the People We Work With
We consider the whole person—a completeness of goals and aspirations, family, pursuits outside of work, relationships, and career paths. We strive to create a workplace that respects balance and provides opportunities to pursue passions whether related to work or not. We believe work is an important thing, but not the most important thing. Work can (and should) be fun and enjoyable—but we hold that in tension with the serious effort it takes to work in an industry with mission-critical data and increasing attacks and data breaches all around us.

StrongKey was born out of StrongAuth, Inc.—a veteran Silicon Valley company providing security to governments and businesses all around the globe. For the internet we have today and will need tomorrow, we believe everyone should have rock solid, industrial strength data security at an affordable price—and StrongKey is how we’re accomplishing that mission.

Our team is split between Cupertino, CA and Durham, NC. When we’re not busy creating a safer internet, we love cycling, office cook-offs, board games, bubble tea, photographing weddings, and competing in fitness challenges.

Arshad Noor

CEO/CTO & Brain Trust

After 32 years of experience in the Information Technology sector (including nearly two decades of designing and building key management infrastructures for worldwide mission-critical environments), Arshad has redirected his energy into solving bigger problems—like making breaches irrelevant—with StrongKey. He loves to pursue personal fitness and health, which handily offsets his passion for sweets. As Arshad fervently stays abreast of cybersecurity news, he is always ready to engage in a friendly debate about authentication or recent breach news.

Jake Kiser

COO & Office Foodie

In his previous life, Jake built and executed growth strategies in both the corporate and nonprofit world for multinational clients across the United States and sub-Saharan Africa. Jake now spends his leisure time racking up activity miles by biking to StrongKey’s Durham office and chasing his rambunctious toddler. What he does here at StrongKey is harder to define. Fun fact: Jake is also an excellent wedding photographer, but no, he’s not for hire because StrongKey needs him to run operations and stuff.

Michael Purcell

CFO & Heavy Sigher

Michael is an experienced equity analyst and investor offering fractional CFO services and strategy to StrongKey. Michael helps organizations like StrongKey maximize their enterprise potential through his financial and business experience. Before pursuing a career in finance, Michael played in a hippie jam band in Colorado. He is fond of traveling with his wife and daughters.

Brandon Hoe

CMO and Sultan of Style

Brandon brings years of experience stripping away the superfluous to reveal the essence of the market. He uses stories, words, pictures, numbers, movement and music in unorthodox and original ways to help StrongKey flourish. On the side, Brandon creates websites to help the local community, giving back and connecting people in need across the RTP.

Kate Sperber

CMO and Pasha of PR

Before joining StrongKey, Kate led the charge to greatness for several successful well-known corporations. She uses her incredible powers for awesome, combining insightful vision and analytical awareness to lend a unique flavor to the narrative of lead generation.

John Whittington

VP of Sales & Southern Accents

An expert at understanding and selling enterprise technology, John joined StrongKey to build relationships and share our technology to help make breaches irrelevant. When he isn’t captivating the public with his southern accent and general amiability, John plays on his over-40 basketball team and is too friendly to block a shot. He lives in Raleigh with his wife and three children.

We recognize teamwork and contribution. We extend ownership to our employees in order to make StrongKey a collaborative effort. We prize proactivity and curiosity. No one at StrongKey is too important to make coffee, and no one is so unimportant that they cannot contribute to the strategic growth of the company. We thoughtfully listen to our employees and communicate openly with them. We extend trust to one another. We also expect great things from our people—ownership, accountability, and belief in our mission. Positivity and a growth-minded attitude are bonuses. We want active participants in pushing the business forward, and that takes a commitment to detail, creating (and following) process, and looking for ways to continually improve what we do at StrongKey. We collectively work toward “unconscious competence” in our jobs. Ultimately, we could not achieve our goals as a company without our employees, and for that, we are thankful.

We prefer to hire into either one of our physical locations (Cupertino, CA or Durham, NC), but if that’s not you, don’t let it stop you! Tell us how you can make it work.
