Establishing Digital Trust Using FIDO2 in the Age of Privacy

March 19 @ 2:15 pm - 3:15 pm

The International Security Conference & Exposition – also known as ISC West – is the largest converged security trade show in the U.S. With over 30,000 attendees, ISC West covers everything from video surveillance, access control, biometrics, smart home, public security, drones & robotics, and more.

Join StrongKey CTO, Arshad Noor as he presents on Establishing Digital Trust Using FIDO2 in the Age of Privacy at ISC West on Thursday, March 19 at 2:15pm.

Abstract: Giving data over to someone is an act of trust. It’s been an implicit trust, until now, when GDPR mandated that it must be explicit. With privacy laws like GDPR and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) influencing our day-to-day lives, consumers today are now demanding nothing less. Backed by big technology players like Google, Microsoft and Visa, the FIDO (Fast Identity Online) Alliance emerged in 2012 to provide open and free authentication standards to help reduce the world’s reliance on passwords and eventually get rid of them altogether. Passwords, the cause of over 80% of breaches, are a major inhibitor of establishing trust online. Aptly named, the FIDO Alliance centralizes its messaging on identity and passwords, but the Latin “fido” means “to trust,” and when it comes to data security, trust is key. This session will discuss the regulatory considerations of data privacy and how FIDO2 improves digital trust today.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify and define what the FIDO Alliance is, and how their standards are helping to get rid of passwords
  • List the key policies within GDPR & CCPA that can be solved by FIDO2
  • Describe how FIDO2 protocols can keep data safe while establishing trust in the explicit consent of the user
